Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 July 2026. How we collect, use, and protect your personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Tembani Sales (trading as "Tembani Sales" / "Tembani Sales Executive", operated by Tembani Mdleleni, "we", "us", "our") is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. We are based at Park Meadows Shopping Centre, Cnr Allum Road & Cumberland Rd, South Kensington, Johannesburg, 2101, and can be reached at tembani@tembanisales.co.za or 082 974 1214.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through tembanisales.co.za, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it under POPIA.

1. Information we collect

We collect personal information when you interact with our website, specifically when you:

  • Submit an enquiry, sell/trade-in, or contact form — your name, phone number, email (if given), and any message or vehicle details you provide.
  • Book a viewing, test drive, or evaluation — your name, phone number, preferred vehicle, date and time.
  • Upload photos or documents (e.g. of a car you're selling or trading in) via a form.
  • Submit a customer review — your name, star rating, comment, and an optional photo.
  • Use our finance calculator or click through to WhatsApp — the figures you entered, so we can follow up with relevant information.
  • Browse the site — basic technical/analytics information via Google Ads conversion tracking (see Section 5, Cookies & Tracking).

We do not collect banking details, ID numbers, or other sensitive personal information through this website. If we need that information to process a sale, finance application, or trade-in, we collect it directly and separately from you, never through a website form.

2. Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and follow up on WhatsApp, phone, or email;
  • Arrange and confirm viewings, test drives, or vehicle evaluations;
  • Provide finance estimates and trade-in valuations;
  • Process a vehicle purchase, sale, or trade-in you've agreed to;
  • Display customer reviews and delivery photos publicly on the site, only once you've submitted them and we've approved them for posting;
  • Measure how effective our advertising is (Google Ads), so we can spend our marketing budget sensibly.

Our legal basis for processing this information is your consent (you choose to submit a form) and our legitimate business interest in responding to a genuine sales enquiry.

3. Who has access to your information

Your information is only accessible to Tembani Mdleleni and the developer who maintains this website under a confidentiality arrangement, strictly for the purpose of running and maintaining the site. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We use the following service providers ("operators" under POPIA) to run this website, each bound by their own security and privacy standards:

  • Netlify — hosts the website and stores form submissions (leads, bookings, reviews) securely.
  • Cloudinary — stores photos uploaded through the site (vehicle photos, trade-in photos, review photos).
  • Resend — delivers email notifications to us when you submit a form. We do not use this to email you directly.
  • Google (Google Ads) — measures which ads lead to genuine enquiries. See Section 5 below.

4. How we protect your information

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
  • Leads, bookings, and any personal details you submit are only ever accessible with an owner passcode — they are never publicly readable.
  • Customer review submissions are held privately pending Tembani's approval before any part of them (name, comment, photo) is shown publicly.
  • We keep the software behind this website updated and monitor for security issues.

5. Cookies & tracking

This site uses Google Ads (gtag.js) to measure conversions — i.e. to see when someone who clicked one of our ads goes on to submit an enquiry or booking. This may set cookies and share limited interaction data with Google. It does not collect banking, ID, or other sensitive information.

You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings, or block cookies entirely in your browser settings — the site will continue to work normally either way.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purpose you provided it for, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. Published reviews and delivery photos remain visible on the site until you ask us to remove them.

7. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Ask us what personal information we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • Ask us to delete your information, including a published review or photo;
  • Object to how we're processing your information;
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything already done with your consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at tembani@tembanisales.co.za. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your request, you can lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator.

8. Third-party links

Our site links to WhatsApp, Google Maps, and our Google Business Profile. Those services have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read — we're not responsible for how they handle your information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our website or business practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
