Chery claims 400 km, on the old NEDC cycle. That number always flatters an EV. On the stricter WLTP standard it is likely under 350 km, and 300 to 350 km is a fair figure to plan around in Johannesburg driving, less in winter or at highway speed.
On charging, Chery South Africa quotes 30–80% in 16.5 minutes or less on ultra-fast DC. That is a best-case lab figure on a high-power charger — on a typical South African public DC charger, plan for closer to 25 to 35 minutes for the same top-up.
Chery has not published an AC home-charging time. As a rough guide, based on the 42.7 kWh battery, a 7 kW home wallbox is around a 6 to 7 hour full charge and a standard household plug is an overnight-plus job. A wallbox and a portable cable are both included in the pre-order package — ask us to confirm the AC figure if it decides it for you.
The Q is new to South Africa, so the charging network experience, real winter range and parts turnaround are not yet proven here the way they are on an established model.
